Sainte Alvere is famous for its winter truffle market and its summer farmer's and night markets where you can discover the various gourmet products of the Périgord.

All the villages in the neighbourhood organize these renowned night markets complete with friendly atmosphere and musical entertainment held from the end of June to the beginning of September.

They are great places to meet the farmers, breeders and craftsmen of the region where you can buy duck rillettes from a local breeder with Périgord-style cheese, purchased directly from the local farmer. Bring your own cutlery and try different local dishes like foie gras, dusck rillette and off course the famous truffle at the communal table where the locals welcome you and your family to the area.

Take a day trip and visit several of the 162 most beautiful villages (les plus beaux villages) of France including Limieul, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Belves, Monpazier that are all close by.

Walk through 1 of the ‘1001’ beautiful old castles in the surrounding areas like the Chateau de Campagne, the Chateau de La Rue, Chateau of the Gaubertie and the famous Château de Hautefort that looks like something straight out of a fairy tale and was even used as a filming location for the classic Cinderella story in “Ever After”.
